About Us

Our Mission

At Blazing Language, we help language learners make real progress through the power of comprehensible input.

Instead of memorizing endless vocabulary lists or obsessing over grammar rules, we focus on helping you understand the language through engaging audio content designed specifically for learners. By listening regularly to content that is challenging but understandable, you can naturally build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and develop a feel for the language over time.

Our goal is simple: to make language learning enjoyable, sustainable, and effective.

What You’ll Find Here

Daily Listening Practice

Short podcast episodes designed for language learners, typically 5–10 minutes long, making it easy to fit language learning into your day.

Learner-Friendly Content

Topics include culture, history, travel, food, music, daily life, and much more. Episodes are created specifically for language learners, not native speakers, so you can enjoy interesting content without feeling overwhelmed.

Multiple Levels

Whether you’re a beginner building confidence or an intermediate learner ready for more challenging material, you’ll find content designed to help you progress step by step.

Comprehensible Input

Our podcasts are carefully crafted to provide input that is understandable but slightly beyond your current level—often called “comprehensible input.” This approach helps you acquire language naturally through repeated exposure to meaningful communication.

Consistent Practice

Language learning is less about intensity and more about consistency. A few minutes of listening every day can add up to hundreds of hours of exposure over time.

Who We’re For

Blazing Language is for:

  • Self-learners who want an enjoyable alternative to traditional language study.
  • People who are tired of memorizing vocabulary lists and filling out grammar exercises.
  • Users of apps like Duolingo, Babbel, Busuu, Memrise, and Anki who want additional real-world exposure to the language.
  • Commuters, walkers, exercisers, and busy professionals looking for productive ways to use a few minutes each day.
  • Anyone who believes language learning should be interesting, not boring.

How Blazing Language Fits Into Your Learning

We don’t believe there is a single “perfect” language-learning method.

Many learners benefit from a combination of approaches. Apps can introduce vocabulary and grammar. Flashcards can help reinforce what you’ve learned. Classes and tutors can provide guidance and speaking practice.

Blazing Language complements these tools by giving you something equally important: understandable, engaging content that lets you experience the language in context.

Think of it as the bridge between studying a language and actually using it.

Languages

We’re beginning with multiple languages and plan to continue expanding over time. Each language includes podcast series designed specifically for learners, with content tailored to different interests and proficiency levels.

As Blazing Language grows, we’ll continue adding new topics, new episodes, and new learning opportunities.

Meet the Creator

Blazing Language was created by Kenn Nesbitt, a lifelong writer, educator, former U.S. Children’s Poet Laureate, and creator of the popular children’s poetry website, Poetry4kids.com.

Kenn is also a dedicated language learner who has spent years studying Spanish and Portuguese and understands firsthand both the excitement and the frustrations of learning another language. After experimenting with many different approaches, he became convinced that regular exposure to interesting, understandable content is one of the most effective ways to build language skills.

Blazing Language combines his experience as an educator, author, and language learner to create content that is both engaging and accessible.

  1. Choose a language and a podcast that interests you.
  2. Listen regularly, even if you don’t understand every word.
  3. Focus on understanding the overall meaning rather than translating everything.
  4. Re-listen to episodes frequently. Repetition helps build fluency.
  5. Combine listening with any other study methods you enjoy include apps, flash cards, and online in-person live instruction.
  6. Trust the process and keep showing up.
  7. Language acquisition takes time, but every minute of meaningful exposure moves you forward.
